Things you shouldn't do at Turner's Cross 1) Get in the way of a shot from Greg Bolger 2) Run on the steps on a wet night 3) Celebrate an early goal as if you've won the league with a last minute winner, and put your finger to your mouth The Shamrock Rovers players did two of these three things, and boy did it make them look awfully silly trudging off the pitch at full time.
It's not like they had already set themselves up for a major fall, what with Brandon Miele claiming he hadn't seen anything from Cork City that had scared him, and Stephen Bradley (perhaps fairly) stating that this City side was nowhere near the Dundalk 3-in-a-row team.
Despite it being glorious sunshine in seemingly every other county, it was a wet and dull day down Leeside. All the more impressive then, that 5,135 people were in Turner's Cross, including 300 or so Rovers fans who went nuts after Trevor Clarke's opener. But why rile up those 5,135 people?
Colm mentioned on a perfect stream last night that it would result in a more angry Cork City side. Reminder - a side which had won 14 of the previous 15 games. Had it not been for Galway earning a draw in Eamon Deacy Park, it would've been a record-breaking night.
Ryan Delaney has turned into John Caulfield's best signing, he got us back into it, Gearóid Morrissey then struck an absolute pearler, before Delaney and Dunleavy secured the result.
From the sounds of the commentary, it could've been a few more, and Rovers could've had more than Dave McAllister sent off.
Perhaps Stephen Bradley will learn his lesson this time about talking down Cork City in the media. We'll have to wait and see ahead of our visit to Tallaght in the last series of games. So now, Rebel Radio takes an enforced but deserved break for a couple of weeks. Last Monday's game against Sligo was the first we had missed all season, and with the crunch match in Oriel next week being televised, there's no need for us.
Fear not though, for the biggest game of the season will be live on rebelradioccfc.com - the Munster Senior Cup final on June 12!
What do you mean the goals don't count?!
